This internship is designed to help you learn and develop. Many of our colleagues have gone on to build long-term careers with Treloar's, progressing into permanent support roles and specialist positions.

Your Working Pattern

You'll work a two-week rolling rota (a typical rota could look like this):

Week 1

  •          Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 2:00pm
  •          Saturday: 7:00am – 2:00pm
  •          Sunday: 3:30pm – 10:30pm

Week 2

  •          Tuesday – Friday: 3:30pm – 10:30pm

This pattern gives you regular weekdays off and a great work-life balance across the rota.

What you'll be doing

As an Intern Student Support Assistant, you'll be helping our students achieve their goals within one of our onsite Residential Houses.

As part of the wrap around support we provide to deliver outstanding education for children and young adults with physical needs you’ll;

  •          Encourage students to develop their independence and confidence
  •          Assist with specialist equipment 
  •          Work closely with a range of professionals as part of a friendly multidisciplinary team
  •          Support with personal care, including washing, dressing, bathing, toileting and personal hygiene
  •          Assist with mealtimes, preparing snacks and supporting nutritional needs
  •          Help keep accurate records and contribute to individual support plans
  •          Create a safe, positive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive

No previous care experience is required—we'll give you all the training you need.

Who we're looking for:

We're looking for enthusiastic, caring people who are ready to learn.

You'll ideally have:

  •          GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent)
  •          A genuine interest in health, social care, education or supporting young people
  •          Great communication and teamwork skills
  •          A positive, can-do attitude
  •          A willingness to learn and get involved
  •          Compassion, patience and reliability

This role is especially suited to students or recent graduates from Health & Social Care or related courses who want practical experience before progressing into careers such as nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, teaching, psychology or social work.
